Log: Jury duty?

Apparently I must attend something called Jury Duty. From what I understand, this is a court trial, however I don't believe I've ever heard of a Jury. From what my father told me, court trials consist of proving whether or not someone committed a crime. A judge, usually the king or a trusted ally, presides over the trial. The convicted pleads his case, the evidence presented, then the final judgement takes place. I never wanted to, but I knew, when I became king, I'd have to do this. Fortunately, Altea was always peaceful and we rarely had trials. But what is a jury? I've never heard of anything like that.

And now I'm placed on a Head Seat? I'm so royally confused. So I must preside over something which I know nothing about? Forcefully? I do despise this termination business.

You should feel honoured, Lord Marth!

It seems as though there is such a very big ordeal at hand and you are offered the chance to be involved! It may sound as though it is a bother and perhaps even a burden, but you are a prince who fights for your people, especially the innocent. Does it not seem right that you should do the same here?

I do not quite know either, but I think you get to be a part of the group that decides whether Balthier is actually a thief of some sort or not. If he isn't, then I imagine that would make him wrongfully accused...

I am just very excited to see you. After all, we have not created excuses to see one another in a while. I was beginning to think, however, that you did not wish to see me at all. I do know, however, that such is not true at all...

Uh, okay, I don't know too much about it, but pretty much we've got to sit there and listen to the case, and then come to a decision as to if the guy's going to jail or not.
Uh... as head, I think you're kinda the one that reads the verdict at the end. I don't really know if you do anything else that's special, I guess you have to listen like the rest of us.

I'm sure they'll explain it.

I am apparently the voice of the jury, but it's as if we're acting in place of the judge, at least by Altean definition.

The jury kinda does. Act like a judge, that is. You know, jury of your peers to decide your sentence and all that jazz.
The judge is kinda there to make sure the lawyers are doing all the legal stuff right, I think.
